SETUP

Basics

If you won't read anything else on this site, please read this: You have to adjust your quality settings on each device that has a Plex app. If you don't, you will have buffering issues. There are instructions quicklinked above for each device type. Read on for additional information.

LITFLIX uses Plex, a media server application. You can download Plex for free on your Smart TV, Amazon Fire TV, or Chromecast. If you're watching from a laptop or computer, I recommend getting the Plex player app, as you will get much better quality than from watching in the browser. Plex also has a mobile app for iPhone and Android for $5. Worth it if you're streaming on the go, as you can sync content to your device.

After you receive your welcome e-mail, create a Plex account. You can use this account info to login to Plex, and get access to Litflix. Settings and Setup instructions below.

For requesting new content, you'll use Ombi, a slick request tool that is fully automated! You go to Ombi and then "Login with Plex Credentials". Old shows and reality shows can be tough to find, so be patient or ask the admin if your request seems to be missing.

Check the FAQ if you have any other questions, or ask the admin.

Settings Info

The quality you can get from Litflix will depend on a few factors, mainly your internet speed and the device you are using to stream. Older or weaker hardware like a Smart TV will not be as quick at processing the large files as newer or dedicated devices like a Fire TV.

For player quality, use "Original Quality" and "Direct Play" if you have a fast internet connection and strong WiFi or ethernet. This helps reduce load on the server.

If you're stuck with slower internet, or experience buffering or long waits, then lower your quality to 8 Mbps, 1080p or 2 Mbps, 720p if you still have issues. Most media on Litflix is in 1080p (with 5.1 Surround Sound).

If you have trouble with sound, you can check your audio passthrough settings. Sometimes soundbars need to be set to HDMI passthrough, etc. There's lots of info on this online, and feel free to ask. My setup worked just fine by default.

There are other settings available for you to play with, like how you'd like subtitles to appear when available.

Setting up the Navigation Bar

There is a navigation menu on the left pane. Your particular app might be a bit different.

By default, you may only see the Movies & Shows (on Plex) and Live TV (On Plex) sections. Litflix is there, but it's hiding behind the MORE> menu.

Click MORE>, then Pin the Libraries you would like from Litflix to your home page. Pinned libraries will show up on your Home Screen, so make sure you pin the content you want.

You can also unpin the On Plex ones, as they are ad-supported free content. It should end up looking something like the image on the left when you're done.

Once you've reached this step, you should be all set! The Plex UI is pretty intuitive. Play around and feel free to ask questions. There is also a wealth of information online in Plex forums and on places like Reddit, Plex is a popular home media server.
